Il Sileno ciliegiolo recensito da Ian D’Agata

2012 Sator Ciliegiolo Sileno

Inky dark ruby. Also inky on the nose, with rather wild herbal and floral nuances complicating a ripe plum aroma. Opulent and suave in the mouth, with superripe red cherry and strawberry flavors lifted by pungent coffee and cocoa nuances. Finishes thick and moderately long. Not my style of ciliegiolo but the lack of typicity may be partly due to the hot year. This estate is located close to Pomaia, a town famous in Italy for having Europe’s biggest Buddhist temple, where Richard Gere has apparently been spotted more than once.
